Teacher placement scheme
An exciting opportunity has arisen for qualified teachers to join the Chatsworth House Trust's education team as part of a new teacher placement scheme. Successful candidates will expand the existing formal education programme through development of Key Stage 2 or Key Stage 3 curriculum-based resources for Chatsworth house, garden and farmyard. This work will form an important part of the effort to increase the charity's schools market.
This opportunity requires creativity, initiative, team-working, a proven ability to take personal responsibility for initiation and delivery of projects on time and to budget, and an excellent understanding of the current requirements of teachers undertaking school visits to cultural and environmental heritage sites. Applications are invited from both primary and secondary teachers with specialisms in art, history, science, geography or other curriculum or cross-curricular areas.
The scheme accommodates part-time placements of varying lengths between January 2009 and March 2010, according to the needs of the charity and the availability of desirable candidates.

Security Officer
A permanent position has arisen for a Security Officer working on a rota basis, including nights, dealing with all aspects of the security of Chatsworth House and immediate area. Experience is not necessary but applicants must have good communication skills and an awareness of the need to maintain confidentiality at all times. A polite and courteous manner is required at all times whilst dealing with a wide range of people including visitors, VIPs, the police and the emergency services. It will be necessary to remain calm under pressure and to have the ability to work in a methodical way. An understanding of emergency procedures would be an advantage.

Visitor welcome assistants
Enthusiastic, cheerful individuals with excellent customer service skills are sought to fill interesting roles at front of house positions within the house, garden, farmyard and car park admission points. Applicants should be positive and flexible with good sales and numeric skills as well as the ability to work well under pressure. These are seasonal roles starting in early March and ending just prior to Christmas 2009 working a minimum of 3 days per week, with regular weekend working required.

Volunteer Opportunities
Chatsworth is proud of our visitor welcome and our knowledgeable and interesting provision of information. You can help improve this even further by volunteering one, two or more days a week at Chatsworth as part of our visitor welcome team.
No experience is necessary but an interest in historic houses or customer care is essential.
The role will be mainly outdoors and may also involve driving buggies that provide visitor transport.
Although these are volunteer positions a benefits package will be provided.

The Devonshire Arms, Beeley
Located on the Chatsworth Estate, The Devonshire Arms at Beeley is a traditional English country pub with a contemporary twist, oak beams, open fires and nooks and crannies. It is also the perfect spot to relax whist being served cask ales and quality food and wines in the vibrant Brasserie.
