Lismore and Surrounds
Lismore has been designated a Heritage Town and all the amenities are a mere two minute walk from the Castle. Lismore has a Heritage Centre. There are several bars in the town, which regularly host Irish musical evenings and a selection of restaurants including O’Brien’s Chop House which was recently added to the Michelin Guide.
Lismore is only twelve miles from the coast and there are many miles of magnificent sandy Blue Flag beaches within half an hours drive.

There are several racecourses within easy reach of Lismore including Thurles, Tramore, Gowran Park, Limerick and Tipperary.

Horse riding and trekking can be arranged in the Nire Valley and Comeragh Mountains, approximately half an hour away by car.

There are lovely walks along the river, in the woodlands, or on the Knockmealdown or Comeragh Mountains. Many of these walks can be started from the Castle.

There are very good shopping facilities in Cork. Everyday shopping can be done in Lismore and in nearby Dungarvan, a bustling market town with some lovely cafes.

The Rock of Cashel, where St. Patrick is said to have preached, is about forty-five minutes away by car. Nearer to Lismore is the historic town of Cahir with antique shops and a medieval castle, and nearby Swiss Cottage is also well worth a visit.
Lismore & County Waterford
Much of the north and centre of County Waterford is mountainous, including the Comeragh range with its stunning lakes. The Waterford coastline is a series of rugged cliffs and sand-fringed bays, where you'll find many attractive seaside resorts, Tramore being the most well known.

The Blackwater valley, with its flanking hills and numerous woodland stretches, provides the finest river scenery in Ireland. The picturesque town of Lismore, through which the Blackwater flows, is beautifully situated at the foot of the Knockmealdown Mountains. The charming fishing village of Dunmore East is well worth a visit.

The town of Lismore is within easy reach of the main points of entry to Ireland from abroad and the main towns of the south of Ireland. The cities of Cork and Waterford can both be reached in forty-five minutes. There is a major international airport in Cork while Waterford has its own regional airport.
